In a diagram, there may be gaps that make the diagram too loose and hard to read. To reduce those gaps, Magnet tool can be used. Magnet tool can be used to attract shapes, such that unnecessary spaces can be reduced.
Using Magnet- Take the following Sequence Diagram as example. Click on the Magnet tool on the diagram toolbar.
 - Click on anywhere on the diagram with left mouse button hold. A plus sign will appear.
 - Drag upwards to attract the shapes below upwards, or drag downwards to attract shapes above downwards.
 - Release the mouse button when done.

On a side note, Sweeper is a tool that act oppositely. By using Sweeper, you can create spaces between shapes for creating new shapes.
